Recycler/Going Green

Overview

  • For the person who recycles everything (bottles, paper, plastics, etc.) here’s your chance to show them where all those recycled products go.
  • Use paper that is blatantly labelled “…recycled…”
  • Ever wonder what to do with those little and/or irregularly sized scraps of wrapping paper that you have leftover from wrapping other presents? Grab a bunch of them, tape them together and wrap your gift in that. You can tell the giftee that they’ve helped keep all that paper out of landfills.
  • Wrap the present in one of the recycled material bags that you would get at a grocery store or industry/home show.
  • The paper used could be:
    • Recycled paper
    • A piece of paper that has something on the other side, like a printed e-mail, an advertisement flyer with print/picture on only one side, an old household bill.
  • If you choose to purchase a card for your recipient, rather than writing on the card itself you could write their name and whatever message you have for them on a post it note and placing that in the card and on the envelope.  That way they can recycle the card and give it to someone else!
  • Use quotes or phrases that relate to your theme when you present the gifts or in your card. For example:
    • Thanks for making our planet a little greener.
    • Earth day, every day.
    • Good planets are hard to find.
    • Give a hoot, don’t pollute.
    • “When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world.” ~John Muir
  • At the bottom of the page, a note like the following could be included.  “PS. All the words used in the above message have been recycled from previously issued notes and existing sentiments.”
