Overview

  • This theme is designed for the person who loves cars, motorcycles or any other motorized vehicle.
  • It can work for amateur mechanics, people who want to learn more about vehicles or just someone who appreciates a fine automobile.

Gift Ideas

  • Think about things that people with an interest in automotives would love to receive or do:
    • Activities: go karting, go for a drive, classes in automotive repair, driving lessons, watch a vehicle or road trip based movie (Easy Rider, The Fast and the Furious)…
    • Events: many sports teams share a name with popular vehicles (eg: Rams, Chargers, Patriots, Avalanche, Astros). If you have a team like that nearby, you can easily work a game into the theme. Or go to an old-school drive in movie theatre (if you can find one).
    • Obviously a car or motorcycle would work as a gift, but keep in mind that less pricey options like tires, car supplies (eg: emergency kit, windshield washer fluid, car air fresheners) fit this theme as well.
  • On a budget? Take your giftee to a drive through restaurant or food truck followed by a classic car movie like Bullitt.
  • Think outside the box: the term “automotives” refers to any motorized vehicle and could cover things like jet skis and boats/cruises.
  • You can keep the theme simple and just present gifts around automotives or you can incorporate other themes. For example, have a look at our Road Trip or Occupations (mechanic) themes.

Wrapping

  • Try wrapping your gift with plain paper and applying pictures of vehicles onto the gift, or draw them on yourself.
  • You can often buy commercially made wrapping paper with cars on it.
  • Tie a small automotive related item into the ribbon around the gift (eg: a toy car).

Presentation

  • Play some related music when you present your gifts (eg: Drive – The Cars, Life is a Highway – Tom Cochrane).
  • Use quotes or phrases that relate to your theme when you present the gifts or in your card. For example:
    • You drive me wild. Happy anniversary!
    • Hope the wheels are in motion for a great birthday!
    • Happy birthday to someone who’s always ahead of the curve!
