Rodeo/Cowboy

Overview

  • This theme is great for horse/rodeo lovers, people whose birthday falls around rodeos like the Calgary Stampede or those who grew up on a farm (or wish they did).
  • See if you can find wrapping that fits the theme (eg: horses on the wrapping paper).
  • Try using rope instead of ribbon.
  • Tie a small rodeo related gift into the ribbon around the gift (eg: a horseshoe).
  • Use a lot of “yahoos!” and “yeehaws!” with your presentation.
  • Lassos could be worked in here. Try buying some string and having your giftee use a makeshift lasso to rope their gifts from across the room.
  • When you present each gift, try to work it into the theme with a short explanation. For instance, if you’re giving someone jeans, you might say “I got you some jeans so you don’t get saddle sores on our next trail ride”
  • Be creative, don’t be afraid to stretch associations between a gift and the theme. For instance, you could refer to a motorcycle as an iron horse.
  • Use quotes or phrases that relate to your theme when you present the gifts or in your card. For example:
    • On your birthday this year, cowboy up!
    • If you haven’t fallen off a horse, then you haven’t been riding long enough.
    • Saddle up and have a great birthday!
