Overview

If your giftee loves dance (either watching it or participating in it), consider using this theme.

Think about things that a dancer would love to receive or do:
- Perhaps a gift card to their favourite athletic or dance store.
- Activities: classes to work on their skills or maybe for a dance they’ve never tried before (eg: tap, salsa, line dancing, ballet, belly dancing), tickets to a show involving dance (eg: ballet, Stomp, Cirque du Soleil)…
- On a budget? Try a gift card for iTunes or Google Play so they can download their favourite music to dance to or take them dancing at a local bar.
You can keep the theme simple and just present gifts around dance or you can incorporate other themes. For instance:
- If you include an iTunes gift card or theatre into your gift, try using those in our Senses theme. (eg: hearing = music, sight = theatre).
- There is a type of therapy called dance/movement therapy. You could use this association to apply the Types of Therapy theme. Eg: dance classes = music therapy, gift card for active wear = retail therapy).
Another option is to work the theme around different types of dance. Your main gift might be tickets to the ballet, but you can add all sorts of fun gifts into the theme this way. There are no restrictions here, use your imagination. A few examples:
- Dance: salsa. Gift: jar of salsa.
- Dance: tap. Gift: a trip to the local bar to see what’s on tap.
- Dance: swing. Gift: a swing set.
- Dance: moonwalk. Gift: a night of stargazing.
- Dance: ballroom. Gift: a soccer ball.
- Dance: can can. Gift: canned goods.
- Dance: polka. Gift: something with polka dots.
- Dance: Scottish. Gift: something with a tartan, or scotch
- Dance: Irish. Gift: whiskey.
- Dance: breakdancing. Gift: take a break and getaway somewhere.
Stuck for ideas? Consider donating to a charitable organization that promotes sports/dance for underprivileged kids.

Apply pictures of dancers to each gift.
If you’re presenting several types of dance, use a picture of each dance on the gift they represent.

Presentation

Consider trying to show them the dance the gift is associated with. Your giftee has to guess the dance before they can open each gift.
Use quotes or phrases that relate to your theme when you present the gifts or in your card. For example:
- Dance up a storm on your birthday!
- Ever since I met you, I’ve been dancing on air. Happy anniversary!
- Care to dance?
- Dance like nobody’s watching.
